| An equally important but often neglected training need is the practice of weapons manipulations such as reloads and malfunction clearances. In order to practice these skills, you will need some type of simulated rounds to place in the chamber and magazine. People who reload will often make up rounds using just a case and buller - no powder or primer. While this serves the training purpose, this is not the safest way to practice. It is possible to mix training rounds and real rounds resulting in at best a negligent discharge and at worse, someone's death. While this may sound like some obscure safety concern, I know of at least one documented instance when this happened. I list dummy rounds as "essential" because they are so cheap that there is no excuse no to have them. I paid $.30 each at the GunSite Pro Shop for mine and you should be able to find them for a similar price. I purchased 15 so I'd have enought to fill three magazines and for less than $5.00 I can practice with complete safety.
