| A.E. Nelson is a company much like SureFire in my mind, you just can't say enough good things about them. I have used the A.E. Nelson as my duty holster and other accessories for approximately four years. I bought this holster when I gave up my Ruger GP-100 and started carrying the Sig P220. In classic Park Service tradition, they didn't have a holster to fit the full size Sigs and I was given a dubious "choice" between buying my own holster or carrying a 9mm. In their infinite wisdom they had bought their holster for the 228's and 229's and thought it was OK to have the barrel protrude beyond the bottom of the holster. They couldn't buy the holsters for the larger Sigs which would fit both 220's, 226's, 228's, and 229's because that would make too much sense.
The holster is very straight forward being a conventional top draw with thumb snap and screw tension for retention. The holster has seen countless presentations and always worked perfectly. A nice feature is that the belt tension is adjusted by a standard phillips head screw. This is vastly superior to the allen key adjustments required by companies such as Safariland. This holster has proven to be incredibly durable and has always returned to a brand new appearance with some dye and polish.
If you can say anything bad about A.E. Nelson, it is that you don't get orders from them immediately. For all practical purposes they are a custom leather maker and often a particular item won't be in stock and they will need to make it. I've waited up to a month but never the six weeks they will advise. A.E. Nelson has excellent customer service and will customize designs for you. Send them drawings, diagrams, etc and they will make it for you. |
