A.E. Nelson's Front Mount Carriers
| These are images of the magazine carriers offered by A.E. Nelson. They make a unique carrier that is specifically designed to be worn on the front of a duty belt and the carrier is available in double, triple, and quadruple versions. As best I can determine, these are the perfect carriers for this position. If you look closely you'll notice that the rounds in the magazines actually point forward, not up or down as they do with other carriers. This is hugely benfical because as you reach for a magazine, your wrist does not twist and you draw the magazine in a "natural" fashion. Also you don't have to remember whether your magazines are loaded "rounds up" or "rounds down."
The real key to the success of this design is that the magazines are offset. The lower magazine sits further back in the carrier. This means that the first magazine you grab can be indexed very easily and after that magazine is removed, the remaining magazine can be indexed easily. I carried the double version of this carrier for two years and was very pleased with it, it is an excellent product. I have not tried the triple or quadruple versions of this carrier. I suspect the triple would be a superior design since only one magazine is offset. If you like to carry your spare magazines on the front of your duty belt these are THE carriers to use.
If you can say anything bad about A.E. Nelson, it is that you don't get orders from them immediately. For all practical purposes they are a custom leather maker and often a particular item won't be in stock and they will need to make it. I've waited up to a month but never the six weeks they will advise. A.E. Nelson has excellent customer service and will customize designs for you. Send them drawings, diagrams, etc and they will make it for you. |
