| Once you start playing around with cardboard target and target stands, you'll need some way to attach the targets to the furring strips. The easiest way to do this is with an heavy duty stapler. Buying a stapler is an easy choice because its not just for shooting use - once you have one you'll find all kinds of uses for it. I picked up this stapler at the local Walmart. It is manufactured by Stanley (Model TR200) and had attachments for running wire and screen. It had two main selling points. First, the stapler can be stored with the handle down, allowing it to fit into my shooting bag. Second, it was on sale - I paid less than $20 for it. Since its purchase I also found out that it has two power settings. I run it on the lower setting which provides enough force to secure the target but leaves enough staple showing to remove easily. Just make sure that you have a pair of needle nose pliers handy when you're done shooting to remove staples from the furring strips to avoid cuts when handling the strips.
