The BearCoat Saga

The probelm with refinishing your weapon is that it must be sent off and you'll be without it for some time. The only time I could see that I could do without my Sig was when I was waiting to transfer to the Natchez Trace. I called and spoke with the company and was assured that the weapon would be done promptly since I was an LEO. I asked basically the same questions again and was assured that the finish was wonderful. They even threw a great sale pitch about how much GunSite likes their finish.

I was to send my pistol in near Christmas and was assured that if they received in on a Friday, I would have it back on a Wednesday. I thought that would be perfect since I could shoot a match with it on Thursday and make sure everything worked properly. I spent $94 to ship my Sig to Colorado next day air so it would be there on Friday. I waited anxiously and was surprised when it didn't arrive as promised. I didn't recieve the pistol until Friday, two days after it had been promised.

Before I give the details of the results allow me to offer these two points. First, I was undercharged for the shipping costs, and Rocky Mountain Arms (RMA) absorbed this difference without a gripe. Also, I had several springs that I wanted replaced while the pistol was disassembled. I checked with RMA and they offered to replace the springs for no charge. So, on the positive customer service side, they ate their incorrect shipping costs, and they did replace springs for me at no charge.
