CHEAP HOLSTERS

I mentioned earlier, that many inexpensive holsters are no bargain. Often corners are cut and shoddy materials are used. This holster is an excellent example of this. This is the Uncle Mike's belt slide for the Sig P220 (and others). This was bought as part of a package deal when I bought my P220 and it cost all of $20.

You can often tell quality when you heft a product, and the feel of this holster is a dead giveaway - it feels cheap. The problem with this holster is that it doesn't fit the weapon well - probably because it is designed to fit a variety of weapons. Also, as you can see, the thumb snap - the sole rentetion since fit is so poor - shows signs of cracking and failing. Also, there is no system to adjust the holster to different belt sizes which means the holster will rock forward and backward on the belt. Finally, after a minimal of wear the stitching is already starting to fray and fail showing the overall quality of the holster(or lack thereof).

This is not a blanket condemnation of Uncle Mikes since I've used other products they made and was quite satisfied - their line of duty holster is very good. This does show that good holsters aren't cheap.
